Though both Non-Stop and Son of God did quite well at the box office Friday, Liam Neeson's thriller just stretches past the new Christ bio-pic. This news also comes as a blow to The Lego Movie, which after three weeks in the top spot, finally gets knocked down with a modest $4.4 million earned on Friday, estimating around $20 million for the weekend.
Neeson's Non-Stop opened to around $10 million, demolishing his recent films such as Unknown and The Grey, opening at $6.7 and $6.5 respectively. The current forecast suggests a weekend finish of around $30 million.
While Son of God got off to a equally notable launch, just missing the 10 million mark at $9.4 million on Friday. Though the movie is certainly no Passion of the Christ, which opened to a whopping $83.3 million its first weekend, it is still estimated to take home around $27 million by Monday.
