Box Office: 'Divergent' Tops the Charts, While 'Muppets' Fall Short

         Divergent opened to around $22.8 million, while the Muppets Most Wanted stumbled with an estimated $15 million. All the while, Christian drama God's Not Dead is shaping up to be a surprise box office hit.

Box Office: Mr. Peabody and Sherman Slide Past Need for Speed

         Looks like Need for Speed just wasn't fast enough to beat out Mr. Peabody and Sherman, as the animated adventure took first in the weekend box office with a surprising $21.2 million. Mr. Peabody and Sherman has earned a total of $63.2 million and is estimated to clear the $100 million mark.

         The video game adaption starts its engine this weekend, and early forecasts say Need for Speed will not share the same success as The Fast and  the Furious franchise. With a projected $20 million domestic launch, the movie may lose out too holdovers 300: Rise of An Empire and Mr. Peabody & Sherman. While Tyler Perry's The Single Moms Club, could hold its own with a projected $15 million.

Box Office: The Grand Budapest Hotel Highest-Grossing Limited Live Action Debut of All Time

         With an $800,000 opening weekend, The Grand Budapest Hotel has broken the record for highest-grossing limited live action debut, beating out The Master. The movie, opened in only four theaters in New York and Los Angeles on Friday, averaging more than $200,000 per theater.

         Though not nearly as much as the original, 300: Rise of an Empire gained a modest $45.5 million this weekend. While Dream Works' Mr. Peabody & Sherman fell in second with $32.5 domestically.

         The highly anticipated 300 sequel opened to a notable $17.7 million on Friday, plus $3.3 million in late-night Thursday showings, this opening is significantly lower than the 28.1 million its predecessor opened with.

Box Office: Nearly too Close to Call: Non-Stop Son of God

          Though both Non-Stop and Son of God did quite well at the box office Friday, Liam Neeson's thriller just stretches past the new Christ bio-pic. This news also comes as a blow to The Lego Movie, which after three weeks in the top spot, finally gets knocked down with a modest $4.4 million earned on Friday, estimating around $20 million for the weekend.

Update: Non-Stop earns $30,019,000 over the weekend while Son of God slides into second with $26,500,000.

       The box office has spoken, with a weekend filled with 80's remakes, About last Night, RoboCop, and Endless Love, The Lego Movie shines again. During its second weekend the movie has added another $48.8 million, making a grand total of $129.1 million, all but guaranteeing its rise too the $200 million mark. About Last Night came in second with $27 million, and RoboCop rebounded from a rough mid-week start, yet still came in a distant third at $21.5 million.

         This weekend The Lego Movie opened to nothing but praise, as it blasted its way to the top-spot with $69.1 million, leaving its competition well behind with Monuments Men hitting second with $22.7 million. The Lego Movie is now the highest February opening since Passion of the Christ (2004) which opened to a whopping $83.8 million.
